The Balsam plant, also known as Impatiens balsamina or Touch-me-not, is indeed an annual flowering plant that is native to Southeast Asia. It is a popular garden plant because of its bright and colorful flowers, which can come in shades of pink, purple, red, and white.
The plant's name "Touch-me-not" comes from the fact that its seed pods can burst open and scatter their seeds when touched, giving the impression that the plant is sensitive or easily offended. Balsam plants prefer partial shade and moist soil, and they can grow up to 2-3 feet tall. They bloom from mid-summer to fall and are often used as bedding plants, borders, or in containers.
