Jamun Tree is a hardy fruit and grows well in tropical and subtropical climatic conditions. It prefers dry weather at the time of flowering and fruit set.
The fruits are highly perishable in nature. They cannot be stored for more than 3 to 4 days under ordinary conditions. However, pre-cooled fruits packed in polythene bags can be kept well up to three weeks at low temperatures of 8 to 10°C and 85 to 90% relative humidity.
Climate & Soil - Since Jamun is a hardy fruit, it can be grown under adverse soil and climate conditions. It thrives well under both tropical and subtropical climate. It requires dry weather at the time of flowering and fruit setting. However, deep loam and well drained soil are needed for high yield potential and good plant growth.
Water the plant daily to the required levels, Provide nutrition compost, fertilizers, manures every week for better growth.
